Governors from states near and far away from the U.S.-Mexico border are warning the Biden regime that if the White House and Congress do not move to reinstate Title 42, there will be a crush of illegal migrant crossings so severe that it will make the record numbers of crossings seen since January 2021 seem tame by comparison.
One of them, GOP Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas, who has been dealing with Biden’s self-inflicted crisis since the president overturned all of President Donald Trump’s immigration and border enforcement policies on Day One of his regime, said if the pandemic-era rule — which allows for rapid deportation of illegal migrants for health reasons — goes away, then “chaos” will reign along the border and it will reverberate throughout the country.
“If the courts do not intervene and put a halt to the removal of Title 42, it’s going to be total chaos,” he told ABC’s “This Week” co-anchor Martha Raddatz, per The Hill.
“It was known from the time that Joe Biden got elected that Joe Biden supported open borders. It is known by the cartels who have sophisticated information whether or not the Biden administration is going to enforce the immigration laws or not is known across the world but most importantly, known among the cartels,” Abbott added.
The outlet noted further:
A federal judge last month ordered the Biden administration to halt the use of Title 42, giving officials five weeks to phase out use of the policy.
Those five weeks end on Wednesday, prompting cheers from immigration advocates who call the policy cruel and inhumane, while angering Republicans and border state officials who say Title 42 helped address a growing border crisis.
Several state and local officials were also preparing for the crush of migrants, with mayors in El Paso and Denver declaring states of emergency ahead of the expiration of the title.
For his part, Abbott argued that due to the pandemic, which is ongoing, the rule should be kept in place.
“There’s every reason to keep that in place,” he said. “Some do come across with COVID and no one knows exactly who comes across with COVID — these people are not tested when they come across the border.”
As it turned out, on Monday, the states got a reprieve as U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts issued a temporary emergency order keeping Title 42 in place for the time being.
“The order Monday by Chief Justice John Roberts comes as conservative states are pushing to keep limits on asylum seekers that were put in place during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. They are appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court in a last-ditch effort before the limits are set to expire,” Yahoo reported.
“In the one-page order, Roberts granted a stay pending further order and asked the government to respond by 5 p.m. Tuesday. That is just hours before the restrictions are slated to expire on Wednesday. But with the immigration restrictions going away on Wednesday it’s unclear if the Supreme Court will intervene. The nineteen states on Monday asked the court for an emergency stay that would keep Title 42 in place,” the report added.
“This Court’s review is warranted given the enormous national importance of this case. It is not reasonably contestable that the failure to grant a stay will cause an unprecedented calamity at the southern border,” the states wrote in their request.
So far, Biden’s administration hasn’t done anything at all to intervene, which only signals that the deep state wants there to be an immigrant invasion.
