As it currently stands, the United States will not support Israel’s ongoing ground invasion of Rafah because Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan will result in major loss of life and disruption of humanitarian aid deliveries, the Biden State Department announced.
Spokesman Matthew Miller publicly rejected Israel’s plan for Rafah around the same time that Israel sent in a legion of jets to bomb the southern Gaza city, which directly abuts the northern border of Egypt.
“We do not support Israel launching a full-scale military operation in Rafah,” Miller told reporters at a press conference in Washington.
“As it is currently envisioned,” Miller continued, there is no way President Biden and his cabinet and give the nod to what Netanyahu is doing, this being the same message that Secretary of State Antony Blinken delivered directly to Netanyahu late last week.
Because Israel has not yet provided the U.S. with a humanitarian plan for Rafah “that is credible and that is implementable,” the U.S. government at least verbally will not go along with what Israel is doing and still planning to do.
“We believe that a military operation in Rafah right now would dramatically increase the suffering of the Palestinian people,” Miller further said.
(Related: Don’t forget that there are anywhere from 1.3 to 1.4 million people, many of them refugees, hunkering down right now in Rafah where Israel told them to go for safety.)
Rafah is the last place in Gaza where the Palestinian people have left to go. All of the Palestinians from everywhere else in Gaza are now clustered there in the wake of October 7 when Israel Defense Forces (IDF) drove them all down there as refugees.
Israel promised the Palestinians they would find refuge in Rafah, but now the Israeli government is planning to unleash hell on the city, which is the route through which most humanitarian aid is entering the Gaza Strip.
If Israel conducts a full-scale invasion as planned, it is unlikely that very many Palestinians living or taking refuge in Rafah will survive. And cutting off the city’s port of entry with Egypt will “make it incredibly difficult to sustain the increases in humanitarian assistance that we have been able to deliver,” Miller further stated.
IDF has reportedly warned all remaining Palestinians in Rafah to evacuate – to where, though? They have nowhere to go, and yet IDF is promising to strike the city with “extreme force” in the coming days, having already conducted a number of airstrikes.
Netanyahu insists that a full-scale ground invasion is also necessary in order for Israel to achieve “total victory” over Hamas. No matter what anyone else says, Netanyahu says he is moving forward with the plan.
“We will fight the monsters of Hamas and destroy them for good,” Netanyahu said, adding that “no amount of pressure, no decision by any international forum, will stop Israel from defending itself.”
In the comments, someone noted that the U.S., regardless of all this latest talk in opposition to what Netanyahu is doing, already supplied Israel with enough weapons and ammunition “for this continual genocide to move on Rafah.”
“The U.S. is as transparent and diabolical as Israel,” this person added. “Damn them both.”
Another noted that people in support of what Israel is doing should be aware of the 75-year-plus history of violence by Israel against the Palestinian people whom Israel says do not belong on its land.
“This includes colonization, occupation, and apartheid on Israel’s part, as well as a never-ending stream of violations of international law.”
No matter what the world says, Netanyahu is hellbent upon completing the mission in Gaza with a full ground invasion of Rafah. Learn more at Prophecy.news.
