The Pentagon has just moved space-based solar power a step closer to becoming a military capability. It awarded Virginia-based startup Overview Energy a contract to design, build and test a precision homing beacon that would allow satellites to identify, lock onto and beam concentrated solar energy to authenticated locations on Earth. The system is designed to convert sunlight collected in orbit into near-infrared light and transmit that energy to a designated receiver with high precision.
The U.S. Department of Defense’s recent contract with Overview Energy to develop this “homing beacon” for space-based solar power has ignited a quiet but urgent debate: Is this a leap toward clean energy, or a covert step toward weaponizing the sun, altering the weather, and/or controlling the electric grid? While officials tout the technology as a solution to energy intermittency and land-use conflicts, this kind of manipulation of energy aligns with a broader agenda of centralized control, environmental manipulation, and geopolitical dominance. As the Pentagon eyes 2030 for deploying a geosynchronous satellite constellation, questions swirl about whether this project is truly about supplying power, or about exerting power over populations.
Key Points:
The Pentagon’s enthusiasm for space-based solar power is framed as a logistical solution: Delivering energy to remote bases without relying on vulnerable supply chains. But the technology’s precision – beam power to “authenticated” ground sites with “high precision” – hints at a darker potential. Lasers and microwaves, the primary methods for beaming energy, are not just tools for illumination; they are the building blocks of directed energy weapons (DEWs).
Direct energy weapons, long theorized by military researchers, use concentrated electromagnetic energy to destroy targets at the speed of light. The same satellites that could power a military base could, in theory, disable infrastructure or even target individuals. The homing beacon’s requirement for “active, authenticated” signals suggests a system designed not just to deliver energy, but to control its distribution, which could potentially weaponize the grid itself.
The U.S. military is not alone in its interest. Meta’s $1 gigawatt contract with Overview Energy raises eyebrows, given the tech giant’s ties to globalist agendas and its role in data surveillance. If space-based solar becomes a reality, it could enable real-time, location-specific energy cuts, a tool for both coercion and compliance.
Space-based solar’s proponents highlight its ability to generate power 24/7, sidestepping the intermittency of terrestrial solar. But this advantage is also its vulnerability. A satellite constellation could beam energy to any point on Earth, creating a centralized power grid. Such a system would grant whoever controls the satellites unprecedented authority over energy access, a tool for both benevolence and tyranny.
The project’s timing is telling. As climate change narratives push for “net-zero” transitions, space-based solar fits neatly into the globalist playbook: Replace fossil fuels with a technology that can be tightly regulated, taxed, and weaponized. The Pentagon’s focus on “resilient energy” for warfighters masks a deeper ambition: to establish a global energy infrastructure that cements U.S. hegemony while sidelining competition from decentralized renewables.
Meanwhile, the technology’s potential for weather engineering cannot be ignored. The same microwaves and lasers used to transmit energy could manipulate atmospheric conditions, a practice linked to controversial programs like HAARP and chemtrails. By controlling the sun’s energy, the Pentagon could influence weather patterns, trigger droughts, or even engineer climate disasters, basically using these as tools for both warfare and population control.
The Pentagon’s space-based solar project is a double-edged sword. While it promises a future free from energy scarcity, it also opens the door to unprecedented control over the planet’s most vital resource. As the U.S. military and its corporate allies race to deploy this technology, the public must ask: Who will wield the keys to the sun? And what will they do when the grid becomes a weapon?
